German Khokhlov a3e929870d feat(globe): camera.commanded, picker.pickGlobe, pose.aspectRatio and isDestroyed
Shell navigation needs to know when a new owner takes the camera (the
arrival ground guard), where the globe surface is under a window position
(orientation pivot, view-centred place search), the frustum aspect ratio
(landmark framing) and whether the engine is gone. Each member has a
contract suite check and is implemented by the Cesium engine, the Navara
engine and the fake. On Cesium, commanded hooks the viewer camera's
command methods and trackedEntityChanged only while it has listeners, so
direct Cesium calls from layers still announce a new owner.

German Khokhlov 840e34a881 feat(globe): bring the Navara engine up to the shell contract
- camera.livePosition: one engine-owned Cartesian3, refreshed on read
(the model replaces its state on every move); camera.height()
- render.request(reason) takes the diagnostic reason and ignores it
- maps.current() returns the sources as passed: the base imagery on the
globe (none while tiles replace it) and the tiles shown
- maps.releasePhotorealTiles forgets a source and takes its tiles away
  if they show
- base imagery and photoreal share one switch order; tiles off brings
back the last base imagery with its credit; imagery chosen while
tiles show waits hidden, credit included
- Navara QA runs the contract's maps checks with a Google 3D tiles
source on the dev server's browser key: 58/58

German Khokhlov a4ac0b9b0d fix(globe): harden the Navara engine after review
- maps: photoreal hides the base imagery layer instead of deleting it,
and a new base layer goes in before the old one goes: deleting the
last raster layer stops Navara 0.2.1 loading terrain at the current
view, which left terrainHeight undefined under the tiles
- Google 3D tiles open Navara's attribution card so the tiles'
copyright lines are on screen, as Cesium shows them; onScreen
  credits do the same
- setCameraInputs merges into the camera options set through the
engine (new setCameraOptions extension) instead of resetting them
- createNavaraGlobe disposes the view and canvas if the engine throws
- the pin test checks the installed Navara version and catches
  bracketed private access
- QA: draw-match checks at the nadir clamp, after a Navara flight and
after a mouse drag; terrain under photoreal set right away; the
copyright lines on screen; create/destroy/create leaves no canvas,
frames, animation frames, workers or console errors (54/54)

German Khokhlov 90c8e7763a feat(globe): implement the engine on Navara
src/globe/navara builds the GlobeEngine on a Navara 0.2.1 ThreeView. The
engine keeps the camera pose in src/geo values and pushes it to Navara's
setCamera in degrees (Cesium's heading/pitch/roll convention, S4);
whatever Navara moves itself (user input, its flyTo arc) is read back
from the drawn camera each frame. Projection, picks against the
ellipsoid and the view rectangle are geo math on that pose, with
Navara's fov kept on Cesium's 60° across the wider side.

- flights: Navara flyTo in ms with mapped easings, cancelFlight via an
empty setCamera, user input cancels a flight as in Cesium
- events: moveStart/moveEnd (500 ms still)/changed from the pose
- render: forceUpdate and animation (render on demand, S5)
- surface: S2 CPU ray over 3D-tile meshes, Navara terrain fallback
- maps: OSM/Esri raster, Re:Earth or ion quantized-mesh terrain,
Google 3D tiles with a browser key and Google's logo
- input: DOM pointer events with ScreenSpaceEventHandler semantics
- the three private Navara members used live in internals.js, pinned
  to 0.2.1 by a test

index.js builds the product view (MSAA 4, native pixel ratio, preserved
drawing buffer, effects=minimal) for a dynamic import. The contract
QA script gains --engine=navara on a dev-only harness page: 46/46
contract and 4/4 Navara checks; Cesium stays 53/53.

German Khokhlov b6ac0e9c99 build: add Navara for the experimental engine
Pins @navaramap/three and @navaramap/three-default-plugin 0.2.1 with
their peers three 0.185.1 and postprocessing 6.39.4 (mapillary-js keeps
its own nested three 0.134). The dev server leaves the Navara packages
and their wasm workers out of dependency pre-bundling so wasm-bindgen
resolves its .wasm next to the package. Nothing imports Navara yet: the
Cesium-mode main chunk is byte-identical (2,837,992 bytes, same hash).

German Khokhlov 6dbd9c983e refactor(maps): describe map sources to the engine
The map source controller always hands engine.maps an engine-neutral
description of the registry source: imagery kind/style/accessToken and
credit, photoreal kind and credentials, terrain kind/accessToken. The
default registry carries those beside its Cesium factories. Only a
Cesium engine also gets the prebuilt provider, tileset and cached terrain
(Cesium-mode behaviour, ordering and same-provider guard unchanged); for
any other engine the controller builds nothing, falls back by description
when a setter rejects, and has no tile-failure watch.

German Khokhlov ab0acb0e09 feat(globe): engine-agnostic maps checks and maps.current
The contract suite gains maps checks (opt-in with mapSources: two imagery
sources and a photoreal one the engine can show): setPhotorealTiles(null)
brings back the last base imagery, the last imagery or photoreal call
decides what shows, and a released photoreal source no longer shows or
counts. They observe the new maps.current(), the source objects on screen
as passed. The fake engine follows the same semantics; qa-globe-contract
runs the checks on the app engine with the startup tileset and reapplies
the app's map stack afterwards. The contract documents map sources as
engine-neutral descriptions whose prebuilt members only the engine kind
that built them uses.

German Khokhlov 12c9651a67 refactor(overlays): hand the shell's overlay host the engine, not the viewer
The controls pass the scene engine to the shell, which initializes the
world overlay on it; initWorldOverlay takes only a globe engine (a viewer
or null is refused), so the shell no longer needs a viewer for its
overlay. engineFromViewer only returns the engine registered for a viewer
(the scene engine until teardown) and never builds one, so no engine can
outlive its viewer without a destroy path. Overlay and detection tests
and the allocation worker build a Cesium engine on their mock viewers and
destroy it with them; frame allocation is unchanged.

German Khokhlov 3e3aa0bd9f refactor(maps): use the globe engine
MapSourceController (and MapStackController) take the page's globe
engine: a globe stack becomes engine.maps.setBaseImagery with the
controller's ready provider and credit, then setPhotorealTiles(null),
then setTerrain with the cached terrain; a 3D stack becomes
setPhotorealTiles with its tileset and credit; owned tilesets are
released through maps.releasePhotorealTiles before disposal. The
controller keeps its provider/terrain/tileset caches, construction and
tile-failure fallbacks, switch generations and error watch. The scene
builds its map stack controller with its engine; without an engine the
controller applies sources to the viewer as before. The photoreal-to-
globe sequence (imagery, credit, globe, tileset) is tested end to end on
the Cesium engine.

German Khokhlov 83c13f330d refactor(credits): use the globe engine
Map credits (maps/credits.js) are shown through a credits capability
(engine.credits.addStatic) instead of the scene's credit display; the
shared map scene takes the engine's credits, so the Cesium engine's maps
and its credits part share one owner. Data credits (registerDataCredits,
registerDynamicCredit, show/hideOsmCredit) take the globe engine and keep
accepting a viewer from layers that still hold one; the scene registers
the data credits on its engine. The Cesium credits part reads
Viewer.creditDisplay, else the scene frame state display it aliases.

German Khokhlov be56144d75 refactor(services): use the globe engine
groundSnap.heightFor and meshFloorSampler.sampleMeshFloorCells take the
globe engine: engine.surface.sampleHeight for the probe,
engine.surface.tilesLoaded (and, for mesh cells, maps.photorealActive)
for readiness, camera.height for the mesh sampler's altitude gate. Callers
that still hold a viewer or scene (the layers until phase 1c) keep the
unchanged Cesium path.

German Khokhlov c2a0d20f3d refactor(pick): use the globe engine
pickGroundPosition takes the globe engine (picker.pickPosition, then
camera.pickEllipsoid) and still accepts a Cesium viewer from callers that
hold one (layers until phase 1c), with one shared ground-or-ellipsoid
rule. isSurfacePick classifies engine pick results exactly as the Cesium
picks they wrap.
2026-10-15 18:32:45 +04:00
German Khokhlov aaa6074663 refactor(overlays): use the globe engine
The world overlay host takes its frames (frames.postRender), camera events
(camera.moveEnd), canvas size (host.size), projection matrix
(projector.viewProjection), horizon test (projector.horizonVisible) and
render requests (render.request('world-overlay')) from the globe engine.
initWorldOverlay accepts an engine or, for callers that still hold a
viewer, resolves the viewer's engine through engineFromViewer.

Contract: camera.position(result) becomes camera.livePosition, one
engine-owned object holding the current position, so per-frame readers
and paint lanes keep a live camera position without allocating; engine
events gain raiseValue for argument-list-free frame dispatch. Steady-state
frame allocation is unchanged (worker probe, 30 chunks: 2696/9536/38593
B/frame before and after; detection 473749 -> 408085).
2026-10-15 18:32:40 +04:00
German Khokhlov 58a196374f feat(globe): engine members and the viewer bridge for the shell
Contract: camera.position(result?) and camera.height() for per-frame
readers, render.request(reason?), maps.releasePhotorealTiles, sources
with a caller-owned ready provider, isGlobeEngine. engine.maps now hides
every tileset it has shown, lets the last imagery/photoreal call win, and
setPhotorealTiles(null) restores the last base imagery and its credit
instead of leaving the photoreal credit on a bare globe.

Cesium engine: reads the Viewer camera/canvas aliases, detaches bridged
events through the remover Cesium returns, raises frame timestamps
without allocating, re-aims the horizon occluder only when the camera
moved, and renders the scene directly when the governor governs another
viewer (or none yet). engineFromViewer returns the registered scene
engine of a viewer, else builds and caches one. The render governor stays
the Cesium render backend under engine.render and gains
isRenderGovernorInstalled.

German Khokhlov a5c98c6b07 feat(app): construct the globe engine with the viewer
The scene builds the page's Cesium engine right after the viewer
(src/app/globeEngine.js), names the startup Google tileset to it once
loaded, returns it beside the viewer and destroys it before the viewer.
The debug handle exposes it as window.__godsEyeView.engine. Nothing
consumes it yet; render holds taken before the governor is installed
apply at install.

qa-globe-contract now runs on the app's engine (self-built only when the
app has none); a throwaway engine checks creation and destroy leave the
scene untouched.

German Khokhlov ab2368f3f3 fix(globe): tighten the Cesium engine after review
Map sources are applied through one src/maps/sceneApply.js helper shared by MapSourceController and engine.maps (live layer kept for an unchanged provider, providers cached per source). The contract gains flyTo endTransform and rectangle destinations, flyToSphere easing, drillPick width/height and pick content, with Cesium's own flyToSphere range. Input skips listeners removed during dispatch and stays inert after destroy.

German Khokhlov d831cbd23a feat(globe): implement the engine on Cesium
createCesiumEngine wraps an existing viewer without changing it: camera, picker, projector, frames, render (through the render governor), surface, input, credits and maps, with geo values out and Cesium values in at the boundary. Map and surface code is shared with src/maps and services/groundSnap instead of copied. scripts/qa-globe-contract.mjs runs the contract suite against the engine in headless Chrome; the camera-events check now waits for the previous move to end, as Cesium's moveStart marks a move from rest.
2026-10-15 17:43:05 +04:00
German Khokhlov cd94a26b9f fix(globe): document Cesium's default view angles and check them
FlightOptions and setView now state Cesium's defaults for missing angles
(heading 0, pitch -pi/2, roll 0), enforced by a contract-suite check. The
suite also checks a horizon-bounded view rectangle and an undefined one
when the camera looks away from the Earth.

German Khokhlov 708c96b6f6 fix(globe): tighten the engine contract after review
Engine events get their own documented semantics (single registration,
branded instances); the fake follows Cesium's roll sign, angle ranges,
synchronous zero-duration flights, flyToSphere defaults and
computeViewRectangle. The contract adds viewProjection, horizonVisible,
flightActive, lookAtTransform/transform, zoomIn/zoomOut, input modifiers,
terrainHeight and clampToHeight, with geometric suite checks. Engine
import rules now follow each engine graph transitively.

German Khokhlov 528ec75f32 feat(globe): add the engine contract and its test suite
src/globe/contract.js defines the engine-neutral GlobeEngine capabilities
(JSDoc), createEngineEvent with Cesium.Event semantics and
assertGlobeEngine. src/globe/testing adds a geo-based fake engine for shell
tests and an engine-agnostic contract suite that the fake passes in Node.
check-import-directions keeps the contract free of cesium, three and
@navaramap, and each engine directory free of the other engine.

pixel missed. Wait for tiles, click only at an integer pixel that picks the
line right before the click (off the centre column first), retry up to 4x.

German Khokhlov e3061872cc refactor(streetLevel, traffic, transit, firms, installations, radio, bikeshare, cables, detection): take vector maths from src/geo
Street level view/cameraFollow/groundClick/index, traffic footprint/viewport/ingestion, transit viewport/trails/state/rendering, FIRMS state/viewport, installations controls/viewport/state, radio queries/navigation/state, bikeshare viewport, submarine cable overlay and data/detection now use src/geo for Math, Cartesian2/3, Cartographic and WGS84 maths. Cesium stays for Rectangle, Ray, BoundingSphere, HeadingPitchRange, EasingFunction, EllipsoidGeodesic, EllipsoidalOccluder and the Ellipsoids passed into Cesium (pickEllipsoid, occluders). traffic/state.js keeps its Cesium lerp scratch (written per frame by Cesium.Cartesian3.lerp in animation.js; a geo scratch cost +4-7% there) and traffic/timing.js stays on Cesium (a test keeps it source-equivalent to model.parseRoads, outside this batch). street-level-layer, traffic-layer, installations-layer, bikeshare-layer and submarine-cables own the src/geo files.

German Khokhlov a915bdb3e5 refactor(launches, cctv, alpr): take vector maths from src/geo
Launches selection/replay/panel/policy/policyHelpers/state/camera, CCTV geometry/model/projection/navigation/cards/geometryQueue/state and ALPR model/visuals now use src/geo for Math, Cartesian2/3, Cartographic, Matrix3/4, Quaternion and ENU frames. launches/paths.js keeps Cesium (EllipsoidGeodesic). In camera.js, EllipsoidGeodesic, BoundingSphere.fromPoints/union and the BoundingSphere constructor stay on Cesium; the geo Cartographics passed into EllipsoidGeodesic are only read field by field and cloned there (computeProperties). The CCTV plane orientation stays a Cesium Quaternion and plane dimensions a Cesium Cartesian2 (entity ConstantProperty values). launches-layer and alpr-cameras own the src/geo files.

Dead reckoning, the grounded display floor, snapshot rendering, queries and layer scratch state now use src/geo. German Khokhlov 2b83606765 refactor(vessels, satellites, awareness): take vector maths from src/geo
Moves the Cartesian3/Cartographic/Matrix3/Matrix4/Math calls of the vessel, satellite and Contacts (awareness) layers, plus flights controller/enrichment, to src/geo. The satellites-layer package boundary now owns the src/geo modules. Awareness keeps Cesium.Cartesian3.clone for the resolved subject position, which reaches the installations anchor (anchor.test pins a Cesium instance).

German Khokhlov 1a69368ae6 refactor(ui,voice, annotations, scenes): take vector maths from src/geo
Move the Cartesian3/Cartographic/Matrix4/Transforms/Ellipsoid/Math calls of
the second batch (cockpit camera, context and controller; camera orientation
controls; application shell; location navigation; the annotation resolver
and engine; voice actions and pointer pick; the scene director; the embed
app) to src/geo. Behaviour is unchanged: same argument order, same `result`
semantics.

Kept on Cesium: out-of-scope classes (HeadingPitchRange, BoundingSphere,
Intersect, EllipsoidalOccluder, EasingFunction, SceneTransforms, JulianDate),
WGS84 where it goes into pickEllipsoid or EllipsoidalOccluder,
Matrix4.IDENTITY handed to lookAtTransform, and the Cartesian2 window
positions that reach scene.pickPosition: Cesium keys its per-frame pick
cache on windowPosition.toString(), which a plain object would collapse to
one "[object Object]" key.

The Contacts-subject harness in gevActions.test stubbed
Cesium.Cartographic.fromCartesian to place its subject; it now builds a real
subject position at the same coordinates with geo.cartesian3.fromDegrees.
The cockpit-controls and scenes package-boundary groups now own the src/geo
files.

German Khokhlov d886be68a8 refactor(camera, data): take vector maths from src/geo
Move the Cartesian3/Cartographic/Matrix/Quaternion/Transforms/Math calls of
the first batch (src/data motion, anchor, tracked-camera and icon helpers;
the root camera, locations, HUD, share-link, world-focus, ground-guard,
orbit and cloud modules; services/groundSnap) to src/geo. Behaviour is
unchanged: same argument order, same `result` semantics.

Kept on Cesium: out-of-scope classes (JulianDate, Axis, HeadingPitchRange,
BoundingSphere, Rectangle, EasingFunction, EllipsoidalOccluder with its
WGS84 and seed vector, SceneTransforms) and Matrix4.IDENTITY wherever it is
handed straight to a Cesium camera call (locations.test pins its identity).

synthesizeForwardKinematicsFix now returns a plain position, so the two
snapshot renderers clone it with the static Cesium.Cartesian3.clone instead
of the instance method. The package-boundary groups that reach these
modules now own the src/geo files.

German Khokhlov 4a92ed8377 feat(geo): add src/geo, Cesium's vector maths without Cesium
An engine-neutral port of the CesiumJS 1.138 core maths gev uses: angle
maths, the WGS84 ellipsoid and geodetic coordinates, 2D/3D vectors, 3x3/4x4
matrices, quaternions and local east-north-up / heading-pitch-roll frames.
Formulas and operation order match Cesium, so outputs are bit-identical
(golden tests pin the centre, pole, -0 and quaternion branches).

- Values are plain-data instances of module-private constructors (own
enumerable fields only), so geo's hot functions keep their own V8 hidden
classes; matrices are plain column-major arrays Cesium accepts.
- Cesium's debug argument checks are ported with the same conditions, order
and DeveloperError messages, gated on DEBUG (src/geo/debug.js): on in Node
and the dev server, folded away by vite build, as Cesium's Build strips
  them. A release-parity test compares DEBUG=false geo with Build/Cesium.
- The import-direction check forbids cesium and @cesium/* in src/geo;
CODE-BOUNDARIES.md and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md document the port.

Street Level: Google Street View as the second imagery provider
2026-10-13 15:23:02 +01:00
Said TurkseverandClaude Opus 5.5 b1efd22f02 feat(street-level): one imagery source at a time; IC8 review fixes
- One provider is lit at a time: lighting a chip darkens the others, and a
chip click records every registered provider's switch in one update so
the share link keeps the swap (also off Google 3D, where Street View is
not listed). The layer starts with the first default-on provider
(Mapillary, free); params that light several keep the one already on,
so reapplying them never flips (litByParams). The now-unreachable
"several lit" chip paths are gone.
- Leaving Google 3D during a Street View lookup ends it without an error
or a stuck loading state (openImage's early return resets it; the
  lookup loop rechecks availability).
- A source swap during a lookup no longer reports "no imagery".
- Street View lit off Google 3D says the panel needs the Google 3D map.
- Comments trimmed to the why; keySetupCore.test.mjs back to upstream's
formatting plus the one new test (was a 551-line reformat).

Said TurkseverandClaude Opus 5.5 64d939f3d2 feat(street-level): Street View polish — name, filters, legend, marker
- The chip reads GOOGLE STREET VIEW (and its caption link likewise).
- Providers declare the imagery filters they honour (`filters`, default
pano + since). Street View declares none: every panorama is 360° and it
draws no coverage to thin, so its lookups ignore the filters and the
panel hides IMAGERY and SINCE while it is the only lit provider.
- The legend lists only providers that draw coverage lines, with
Selected only beside one: Street View alone shows no legend.
- Providers may pick their on-globe marker (`marker`); Street View's is a
Google-blue field-of-view cone from a white-ringed dot, in place of
GEV's amber pin, and switches back for a Mapillary photo.

.scene-btn (flex: 1) loads after street-level.css and outranked the

button shrank to its 72px minimum and its one-line label ran past the
panel edge. Scope the rule under .sl-meta-row; the coverage line wraps
instead. The live gate gives the share-link check 30 s, as the link is

Said TurkseverandClaude Opus 5.5 10f1986e38 fix(street-level): IC8 follow-ups for Google Street View
- An open after a failed one is no longer failed by the old panorama's

- A nearest lookup aborted, timed out or refused while Google's script
loads no longer sends its getPanorama request once the script arrives.
- A panorama-details lookup that never answers times out after 10 s,
cools down and retries; an unmount releases lookups in flight, and
  their late answers are dropped.
- Every Maps loader on a page shares one script load and ready callback,
and either can retry a failed script.
- OPEN STREET VIEW aimed at the sky opens nothing and says to aim at a
street, instead of looking up the camera footprint.

Said TurkseverandClaude Opus 5.5 76db4114ff Merge upstream/main into pr/google-street-view
Conflicts with upstream's Street Level provider composition and share-state

- Street View's switch moves from its own share option (`g`) to upstream's
  provider-switch field (`r`, e.g. `0.r.google-1`); a link without it keeps
Street View off. Docs and the browser gate follow.
- createApplicationStreetLevel keeps upstream's injectable provider list;
its default, once the application supplies its Street Level source, is
Mapillary plus Google Street View. Without that source there are none, as
  upstream intends.
- The coverage hint keeps upstream's empty-composition message and joins
  every switched-on provider's hint otherwise.
- CHANGELOG, README and SECURITY keep both sides' entries.
