# God's Eye View Current State

## Vessel components and sources
`src/data/aisLiveVessels.js` assembles `createVesselLayer` from the
`./layers/vessels` package entry. The factory owns feed lifecycle, keyed records,
rendering, selection, trails and cards in separate components. The standalone
entry supplies its AISStream source, scene services and existing row limits.
Incomplete observations retain missing keyed vessels for at most five minutes
since their last accepted receipt, within the renderer's row budget (plus the
existing selected-contact pin). Complete observations keep the existing removal
policy. Empty or failed observations preserve warm data with the existing feed
health warning and first-connect grace period. Source timestamps remain source
timestamps; receipt does not turn an unknown epoch into a fresh update.
A refreshed record keeps its identity while updating its history reference.
Selection changes, disable and destruction cancel pending trail requests; late
responses cannot refill a cleared or replacement trail. Heading and course,
sea-surface placement, click ownership and card selection policy are unchanged.
